What do you think of when someone says Israel?

Most people probably think of war and violence.
Some may think of the holy land or Jerusalem.

But there is more, so much more, to and in Israel.
Did you know there are 8 Israeli Nobel Prize winners? And so many Jewish ones I can't even count them?
Also lots of Israeli scientists have won all sorts of prizes I've never heard of...
Wiki says "Israel is the only country in the Middle East considered to be a liberal democracy due to its broad array of political rights and civil liberties."

In everyday life, we don't live in war and violence (except for Sderot and the area, continually attacked by rockets from the Gaza strip). Most people know someone who is currently serving in the IDF (mandatory) but still life goes on, and crafting - even more so.1

Green opals. I used to be a graphic designer, and one day this client came in with this enormous rock on her finger, a stunning green opal. When I made a "wow" sound over it, it sounded like she said "it's real". I looked up with what must have been the dopiest face ever, because I was thinking "of COURSE it's real!" But no, she said "Israel, the locale where she got it. Then she went on and on and on about how amazing Israel is, and she and her husband go once a year... I'm sold on it completely. My husband and I have a running dispute over where to go on our imaginary vacation. He says Scotland. But if we're really just dreaming anyway, I say "why not israel?" ;)
